Key Performances Propel Duke
Freshman Toby Fournier was the star of the night, scoring a game-high 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds and blocking two shots. This marks her second consecutive 20-point game and her eighth double-digit scoring effort of the season.
Sophomore Oluchi Okananwa delivered a stellar all-around performance with 20 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Her ability to contribute in multiple areas highlighted her importance to Duke’s balanced attack.
Delaney Thomas added 15 points on an efficient 7-of-8 shooting, continuing her streak of strong performances. Senior Reigan Richardson nearly recorded a double-double, finishing with eight points and a career-high 10 assists. Jadyn Donovan led all players with 11 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass, while also adding six points.
Wofford’s Struggles
Despite a valiant effort, the Terriers were unable to match Duke’s intensity and efficiency. Rachael Rose was the lone bright spot for Wofford, scoring 23 points on 9-of-20 shooting. The rest of the team combined to shoot just 33% from the field and struggled to find consistency against Duke’s smothering defense.
Wofford’s lack of size was evident, as they were outscored 50-24 in the paint and failed to record any second-chance points despite several opportunities. The team also suffered a significant setback when reserve guard Sara Deidda sustained a knee injury late in the first half.
Duke’s Depth Shines
The Blue Devils’ depth was a key factor in their victory, with 53 points coming from the bench. This marks the fourth time this season that Duke’s reserves have scored 50 or more points in a game. Players like Jordan Wood and Ashlon Jackson provided valuable minutes, with Wood recording nine points and eight rebounds, and Jackson contributing eight points and four rebounds.
Looking Ahead
With the win, Duke wraps up their non-conference schedule and prepares for a matchup against South Florida on Saturday in Tampa. The Blue Devils will aim to carry their momentum into ACC play, where they hope to contend for the conference title.
For Wofford, the loss ends a three-game winning streak as they continue their road trip with a visit to Lehigh on Saturday. The Terriers will look to regroup and build on their early-season success as they approach Southern Conference play.
A Dominant Display
Duke’s 93-58 victory over Wofford underscored the team’s depth, balance, and ability to execute on both ends of the floor. With standout performances from Fournier, Okananwa, and Thomas, the Blue Devils reaffirmed their status as a top-10 program and a serious contender in women’s college basketball. As they head into the heart of the season, Duke’s blend of talent and depth positions them well for continued success.
